Kindergarten boys perform at annual American Symbols presentation

Kindergarten boys perform at annual American Symbols presentation

The kindergarten boys celebrated the completion of their American Symbols unit with a concert for their families and friends. In their unit, they learned about different elements of the United States, including its flag and celebratory songs.

After sharing breakfast in the Dining Hall with their guests, the boys donned red, white, and blue ties and took to the Ball Auditorium stage.

Accompanied by Lower School music teachers Mr. Case on the guitar and Mrs. Case on the piano, the boys sang “America the Beautiful” and “This Land is Your Land.” The boys spent time in their music classes learning the songs and their meaning throughout their unit.

Their study of American Symbols coincided with Black History Month, and the boys showcased their knowledge of important Black men and women in history and in the present day. The boys spent the month of February researching various figures, ranging from Shirley Chisholm and Katherine Johnson to Louis Armstrong and Bill Russel. While on stage, each boy shared facts about the people they researched.

The boys finished their presentation with a bow before greeting their families.
