Upper School students recognized for visual arts
Seven Upper School students recently earned recognition for their work in the visual arts.
Two Haverford School students will be represented in the 2024 Drexel University High School Photography Contest Exhibition. As Kristin Brown, Upper School visual arts teacher, explains, "This is a national contest, highly selective, and the first time that a Haverford student, let alone two, has had work accepted into the show. Unnav Sharma's photograph is from our trip to Morocco and Chris Adams' photograph is from our class trip to West Philly with the visiting students from Taiwan."
The opening reception for the 2024 Drexel Photography High School Contest will take place on Saturday, Feb 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Photography Gallery on the fourth floor of the Academic Building, located on the northeast corner of 33rd & Arch Streets (101 North 33rd Street). The work will be exhibited from Feb 15 to March 9, 2025.

The Philadelphia Arts in Education Partnership and the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers celebrated the work of five Haverford School students with Scholastic Art awards. The students submitted their work for review by a panel of creative professionals. Winning submissions earned recognition for originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice and vision.
Sara Kattler-Gold, the Philadelphia art region representative for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, writes "Since 1923, the Awards have recognized some of the nation’s most celebrated artists and writers while they were teenagers, including Tschabalala Self, Stephen King, Kay WalkingStick, José Parlá, Amanda Gorman, Charles White, Joyce Carol Oates, and Andy Warhol. We are proud to count your students among these esteemed Scholastic Art & Writing Awards alumni!"
